Rovio has announced that it will be bringing the most popular mobile phone game in the world, Angry Birds Trilogy, to the PlayStation 3 (PSP3), Xbox 360, and the Nintendo 3DS. After racking-up more than 500 million downloads worldwide, that was all but inevitable that Angry Birds would also come to the big home consoles.
Angry Birds Trilogy is expected for release in December this year and will feature a trio of furious fowl capers, combining the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Seasons. Angry Birds Space will probably be launched at a later date.
Petri Järvilehto, Rovio’s Executive Vice President of Games, says the team reworked all the games for HDTVs and consoles: “There are new cinematics, extras and other entertaining content. In addition all of the existing material has been uprezzed and re-treated for the high-resolution and big screen.” Backgrounds have also been animated, and there are several lighting modes as well. He also calls the trilogy package: “an ultimate collector’s edition” of the game.
The console game will feature more than 290 levels with individual leaderboards, and will receive regular free updates.
