As expected, Samsung Display should focus on the production of OLED displays, whose popularity is assured by the rise of smartphones and tablets. This year, the new entity would absorb Samsung Mobile Display (which is specialized in the production of OLED panels for smartphones). According to Display Search, the OLED display market will represent about $ 20 billions in 2018, and 16% of the market share when it represents only 4% currently.

Donggun Park, Samsung Vice President, previously President of Samsung’s LCD business, was elected CEO of Samsung Display. He said at the inauguration ceremony, “We will make Samsung Display a well-respected company through continuous efforts to supply a wide variety of customized products that provide great value to our customers.” He added, “By continually staying one step ahead of our competitors, we can make our company the very best in the display market.”

Samsung Display hopes to become the “No.1 Global Display Manufacturer” in its own right, building on its 21 years experience in the industry.
