FLEXIBLE SCREENS, here they are !

It is probably one of the most impressive technology improvement of the last decade: who never thought of folding your phone or tablet in two, so it can fit in your pocket?

LG made it ! LG is going to release the first Flexible Screen for E-Readers offered for sale from April in Europe.

The 6 inch screen is 0.7mm in depth and offers a 1024×768 pixels resolution. At the moment, it only exists as an electronic paper display and uses e-ink technology ( Kindle like) and only display grey colors.

Even if the screen is flexible, you actually can not entirely fold in your pocket. The flexibility can reach an angle of 40° from the screen center due to the need to add multiple components which are not flexible yet.

Nevertheless, the main advantage of this technology is its resistance. According to LG , the screen can survive a 5 feet fall and still has no stripe.

Samsung and Sharp are getting ready for their own screens and will strike back with Flexible Colored Screen which are expected to be seen on smartphones at the end of 2012.
