Google Chrome finally arrives for iPad!

It made a long time we are waiting for a valid alternative to Safari on the iPad and iPhone. One finally arrived today, a very big one: Google Chrome! With an estimated 310 million users worldwide as of today, Google is about to make that count even higher by bringing their widely-used Chrome Browser to iOS users.

People have been asking to use Chrome on the iPhone,” Chrome product management director Brian Rakowski said while showing off the new browser programs slated to be available in Apple’s online App Store. “We figured why stop there, that we would launch Chrome for the iPad too.”

The free download browser will run on iOS 4.3 or later, and tthe current version is 5.1.1. The iPad version of the app, looks very similar to the desktop Chrome, you are using everyday. However, there are some small difference: the usual settings spanner, in the top-right corner, is replaced by a menu button. For an easy access to this useful functionnality, Google has put the voice search icon in the address bar. The new app also features a custom keyboard that adds frequently used characters when searching or typing in a URL to the top of the virtual keyboard.
