No start menu on Windows 8!

When Microsoft users launch Windows 8 the first time, they’ll immediately notice that getting started with the new OS may not be as familiar as they expected. The ever-present Start Button, existing since Windows 95, has been removed.

The reason? “The use of the Start button has significantly decreased these last years”, said Chaitanya Sareen, principal program manager at Microsoft, to the computer publication PC Pro in Amsterdam.

The citing “telemetry” obtained by the Microsoft Customer Experience Improvement Program, shows that since the release of Windows 7, more users are pinning their favorite apps to the taskbar or simply using keyboard shortcuts to access frequently used applications. instead of going through the Start menu. As a result, Microsoft will now present a tiled Start screen as part of the new Metro interface.

If you’re going to the Start screen now, we’re going to unlock a whole new set of scenarios, or you can choose not to go there, stay in the desktop, and it’s still fast,” ads Chaitanya Sareen.

And you, are you excited about the upcoming release of Windows 8?

Leave your comments below and tell us what you’re looking forward to most about Metro?
