Edifi, the first Christian tablet is here!

Family Christian“, the big american bookstore just released, the first Christian tablet, called EDIFI. The Edifi tablet is a full-colour touchscreen, much like Apple’s iPad – but it’s pre-loaded with Bible passages, Christian radio stations and free religious e-Books.

The device is made by the company Cydle in South Korea. It s based on the Cydle Multipad M7, a two-year-old Android tablet, and will feature:

  • full-color 7-inch touch display screen,
  • 800 x 480 resolution,
  •  800 MHz processor (probably Cortex A8),
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread,
  • 8GB of storage,
  • 512MB of RAM,
  • USB, HDMI port,
  • jack 3,5 mm,
  • micro SD.

The first tablet computer designed specifically for Christians, comes with streaming access to 27 translations of the Bible, links to religious internet radio stations, and a specially Safe Search web browsing with a custom-built web browser which blocks ‘unsuitable’ sites. The HD screen can also play films, music, and download social networking apps.

Brian Honorable, a technology supervisor at Family Christian, said the Edifi was designed to be a direct competitor to the Amazon product. “It goes along with our mission,” Honorable said in an interview with FoxNews.com, “Trying to get people closer to God through a tablet.”

The tablet is selling for $149.99 at Family Christian’s site along with its 300 stores across the US.
