Marissa Mayer is Yahoo’s new CEO !

Google exec vice president Marissa Mayer has been named the new CEO of troubled web giant Yahoo!

This is a great upset, but also a strong sign to reassure yahoo’s users after the turbulent period known!  The US Group really needs to bounce back and to establish a really efficient and stable strategy, and Marina Mayer has to convince!

Mayer was Google’s first woman engineer in 1999, only two years after being graduated of a Master of Science from Standford. Then two years later, she was named Product Director. In 2003, she led the development of iGoogle, Google News, and Gmail. This “geek“, as she enjoys to present herself,  is also millionaire thanks to his status as the 20th employee of Google.

At the end of 2005, Marissa Mayer became Google’s Vice President in charge of the user experience department more especially dedicated to mapping (Maps, Earth), and geolocation.

After 13 years spent in the company, Marissa Mayer resigned from Google via telephone on Monday, to start her new job on Tuesday. In addition to her role as CEO, she will become a Yahoo board member. Mayer also sits on the board of Wal-Mart.

In a statement, Mayer says: “I am honored and delighted to lead Yahoo!, one of the internet’s premier destinations for more than 700 million users.  I look forward to working with the Company’s dedicated employees to bring innovative products, content, and personalized experiences to users and advertisers all around the world.”
