IFA: Acer announces two Windows 8 tablets

Acer is hoping to bounce back in the tablet market with two new convertible Windows 8 models presented during IFA in Germany: the ACER ICONIA TAB W510 and the ACER ICONIA TAB W700.

 

The first one, Acer Iconia W510, is notebook-tablet hybrid sporting a 10.1 inch display with an option of an add on keyboard via a dock, which can in turn boost the battery life of up to 18hours. It is powered by a Clover Trail Intel Atom processor, and weighs less than 600 grams. It has a 64 GB storage capacity, and features microSD, Micro HDMI and Micro HDMI, with 3G being available as an option.

 
 

The second device is the Acer Iconia W700,sporting a big 11.6″display, 3 USB ports, a micro-HDMI port, a front and a rear camera to go with. It also feature a cradle which can be used to view the screen in a number of different positions. It offers a choice between a Core i3 or i5 Ivy Bridge chipset and 32GB or 64GB of storage.

The W510 will cost €599, while the W700 will start at a price of at least €699. The launch of both devices coincides with that of Windows 8.
