Amazon new kindles revealed

Amazon introduced 4 new kindle tablets, and a a new line of stand-alone e-readers Thursday at a new event in California:

Amazon imagined a lot of new interesting features for those gadgets. Here are some of them:

  • Immersion Reading,” where Kindle books can be synchronized with Audible audiobooks, to let you read and listen at the same time.
  • X-Ray for Movies” on the Kindle Fire HD, where users can tap the screen at any time while watching a movie to find out who the actor is.
  • X-Ray for Books and textbooks“, which lets you tap a page in a book to find out more information on characters, places in a book or related YouTube content.
  • Whispersync for Games,” that lets you pick up where you left off when playing games.
  • Time to Read” to tell you when you will finish a chapter in a book on the Paperwhite.
  • Kindle FreeTime” to let parents create profiles for their children and choose what books, games, apps or videos they can access. They will also be able to set time limits.

And another really important point you have to notice:  Bing (not Google) will be the default search engine for the Amazon browser on all the new Kindle tablets. Amazon, which is likely to sell several million of these new devices given their aggressive pricing, could provide a boost to Bing, especially in a mobile/quasi-mobile context.
