December missing from Android 4.2’s People App

If you have a friend whose birthday is in December, the last month of the year, or maybe if your own birthday anniversary is coming up next month, you’ll notice that if you fire up your People app on Android 4.2 you will not be able to add any day in December to a contact since the month itself is missing.

It appears that the People app within Android 4.2 wants to kick off the New Year a bit early. As you can see in the following screen shots, the problem does not affect the Android 4.2 calendar app : December is alive and well there. The problem is on the people app:  flip over to the People app and 2013 kicks off in less than two weeks.

The issue seems to be present on the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7, or pretty much any device running Android 4.2.

In a post today to Google+, the Android team wrote: “We discovered a bug in the Android 4.2 update, which makes it impossible to enter December events in optional fields of the People app (this bug did not affect Calendar). Rest assured, this will be fixed soon so that those of you with December birthdays and anniversaries won’t be forgotten by your friends and family.”
