Zero-gravity flight now available in Europe

Have you ever dreamt flying and forgetting the laws of gravity?

Have you ever dreamt of free floating in the air like an astronaut?

Since the conquest of space began, only a few hundred well trained astronauts have ever had this privilege to experience the emotion and euphoria of these incomparable sensation. But today, you can also do it!

This is official: Yannick d’Escatha, President of CNES, the French Space Agency, Jean-François Clervoy, Chairman of Novespace and ESA astronaut, and Gilles Gompertz, CEO of Avico, have announced the opening to the public of zero-gravity discovery flights on board the Airbus A300 ZERO-G.

The A300 ZERO-G, normally used to drive experiments and trainings in weightlessness, for the scientific and spatial community, will offer around 30 seconds of gravity-free experience at the top of each loop. It can accommodate 40 participants on board, and provides a specially adapted space of more than 200 m3, dedicated to gaining experience and practicing movements under weightless conditions.

zero gravity flight 1Over a flight lasting two and a half hours, those onboard acquire a total of five minutes of weightlessness, drifting in a big padded cabin, known as the “free floating area”, fitted with handrails and vertical straps, allowing for movement around the area in complete safety.

Starting in the first quarter of 2013, three special parabolic flight will be arranged in 2013, at Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport, or departing from Paris – Le Bourget Airport.  The first flight will take place on Friday 15 March 2013.

The Air Zero flights are accessible to anyone over 18 years old on production of an appropriate medical certificate, and will cost only (!)  $7,770 (5,980 EUR) a head.

Zero-gravity flights are already available commercially in the United States and Russia.
