LG releasing first large screen OLED TV

Exactly one year after unveiling the 55EM9700,  LG Electronics announced today that they are accepting pre-orders for their 55″ WRGB OLED TV in Korea. The deliveries will begin in the first week of February.

The price? As expected, it will be really high: about $10,342 ( based on 11 M Korean won at the current exchange rate).

LG OLED TV CESThe 55EM9700 is the tabletop version of a similar model that was first shown at the 2012 Consumer Electronics show almost one year ago. The production version weighs in at 22 pounds and has a screen thickness of just 0.16-Inches. The 55-inch OLED TVs using OLEDs, short for organic light-emitting diodes, feature images with enhanced clarity and a sharper color contrast than liquid crystal display TVs.

LG US public relations added “Other markets where the TV will be available will be announced over the next several weeks along with their respective prices.”
