Online note-taking service Evernote hacked

Online note-taking service Evernote Corp. has been hacked yesterday. The company said in a security notice that some user data had been accessed and that Evernote was requiring its nearly 50 million users to reset their passwords “in an abundance of caution“.

evernote hackedThe Redwood City, California-based company said it believed the attack “follows a similar pattern of the many high profile attacks on other internet-based companies that have taken place over the last several weeks” — an apparent reference of recent breaches at Facebook Inc., Twitter Inc., and Apple Inc.

However the company said the attack did not appear to be linked to Java, a commonly used computer programming language whose weaknesses have been used as springboards for other recent hacks.
The company said it has seen no evidence that any customer data had been tampered with or that any payment information had been compromised.

Having said that, Evernote users were required to reset their respective passwords just in case the attackers managed to recover passwords from the salted hashed list.

But users won’t be able to change their password from the Evernote app. They need to head over to evernote.com and sign in. Then, after signing in, they’ll be prompted to change their password.
Upon resetting their passwords, users will have to sign in using that password on any other Evernote apps they use, including Evernote Food, Evernote Business, and Evernote Hello.

And as always, if you used your Evernote password on any other site, you should change all your passwords now that it’s been compromised.

I have been surfing on-line more than 3 hours lately, but I by no means found any fascinating article
like yours. It is lovely value sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all
website owners and bloggers made excellent
content material as you did, the net can be much more useful than
    ever before.
