Upcoming Amazon Smartphone to feature 4.7-inch display

Amazon is rumored for a long time to be developing its own smartphone to add to its existing range of Kindle tablets and e-readers. The specifications of the rumored smartphone are scarce at the moment, but the device is rumored to sport a 4.7″ display, slightly bigger than the 4.3-inch display that the company had originally planned.

The company was previously considering a 4.3-inch screen but later scrapped the idea after witnessing increased demand for larger size screens among consumers,” the sources tell Digitimes.

The retailer is said to be “working on or enhancing other specifications” of the device. It’s been said that Foxconn, Apple’s longtime manufacturing partner, will be handling assembly duties for Amazon.

It’s reported that Amazon wants to have this device out in Q2 this year, but some recent rumors suggest the scheduled device launch will be delayed due to production problems with Foxconn subsidiary Ensky Tech. The device is more expected to be released sometime after June.
