Starting today, the redesigned VoIP application brings Viber’s free messaging and voice calls to the latest and most advanced generation of Windows Phone devices. It now supports free calls with HD audio, group chat with room for 40 of your closest friends, location sharing, lock screen notifications.
The Windows Phone 8 version of the application features a “native” interface that has been especially tailored for Windows devices. In term of special features, it gives the ability to pin your favorite conversations to your Start screen in the form of a live tile.

Talmon Marco, Viber CEO, had to say about the launch: “One of our most important goals is supporting multiple platforms, ensuring our users can reach all of their friends and contacts no matter what mobile OS they use. Supporting Windows Phone 8 is a critical part of this strategy and we are thrilled that Viber will now be available on the growing list of Windows 8 devices.”

The Viber for Windows Phone 8 update can be downloaded directly from Microsoft’s smartphone store and it will occupy a space of 6MB on users’ devices. The utility supports 30 languages.
